Dany
Have you ever had the feeling to want to trade during the day when your not at your office, and try to get on line and it's busy. Or to slow to download information, on the stock you were interested in. If you follow this thread I have to assume, that there has been an occasion or two that you would have liked a faster service, being so busy.

Dany,

Check out my post:

It appears that quite a few of the giants in technology see enormous growth in broadband.

Here's an excerpt:
"An estimate by Forrester Research puts the number of people using cable modems at 13.6 million by 2002. Another 2.2 million are expected to be on ADSL."

"So where is the sweet spot? "Well, Dell replies, "think of broadband as a sort of Moore's Law on steroids for communications."

Dany, are you STILL at work?? you just might reach your goal of retiring at 35 at this rate!! -VBG-

The 'engineer' in you has no doubt prompted your analytical curiosity to know the absolute numbers....this is a good thing, IMO...just something that is NOT in my realm of knowledge...perhaps others more astute than me can provide some answers for you.

Maybe that's also why I can't see this growth within my own circle of friends.

Don't hang out with many "old coots", huh? ....don't blame ya....it's only natural....we are your parents age, after all!! We have 'been there, done that'....we now have 'other levels' to conquer and the time and money to do it!!! (It also takes less muscle and energy to sit in front of the 'puter...things that, as a younger person, you have an abundance of!!)

Here's another question I have: how does the infancy growth of broadband in terms of % market share gains compare to say, internet access at the beginning, or computers, or other popular technologies?

I suppose there is a way that someone has determined or at least studied these stats...there seems to be 'studies' or 'stats' on jestabout EVERYTHING nowadays! Progressive growth....is how we have gotten to where we are now, and in shorter and shorter amounts of time with ever increasingly new technologies, we all know that, we are living that!! I dunno the answers to your very good questions....but, think about this as you are searchin'....

AREN'T BABY BOOMERS THE LARGEST SEGMENT OF THE POPULATION??

My best,
~T.
