Thanks for that economist tip, BGR.... I think I'm going to have to buy the hard copy of that one or.... (shudder)... subscribe! But that will mean I've turned into a capitalist pig! As a Berkeley alum that is a painful thought. Anyway that is a good writeup from the economist and my favorite piece was ERP RIP. I have thought for a long time that the real problem with software was that the internet killed it. The software companies didn't react fast enough when the internet came along and that was it for them. Most haven't even come to that realization (if correct) that that is the fundamental problem with their business... they think its y2k (which is a minor issue imo). This economist article is the first time I have seen any real connection drawn between ERP and the internet companies.

Peoplesoft finally came up with some next generation concepts with their peoplesoft business network but unfortunately for them it is the same thing verticalnet was doing except about a year later.
