You are so right. Whatever happened, among other things, to parents being the parents? Guide, discipline, love, teach your children. It really gets me when I see children "ruling the roost" rather than the adults - the parents. Too many "parents" seem afraid of parenting. Also, share in some of their activities (they do need some space of their own though, IMHO) - meet their teachers, attend their sports events, etc. Support them! I went to my son's soccer games for eleven years. And only missed one. So many kids' faces brightened just knowing their folks were there.
