Well, would your well-regulated militia be regulated by the federal government, or by Father Terrence, Jimbo and Michael C? There is definitely a difference, especially since the militias are practicing in the hopes that they can overthrow the evil U.S. government, not help protect us from our foes.

Obviously it is not fair to ban only the rights of liberals to bear arms. What about something sensible, like mandatory safety locks, purchasing only one handgun a month (who really needs more), the absolute ban of, and criminal penalties for possessing, assault weapons and armor-piercing bullets, the same background checks at gun shows as in gun stores, and required safety courses before the new owner could take possession of the gun?

I think these are very reasonable, but of course the NRA sees any regulation whatsoever as the slippery slope to the erosion of their "rights", which impinge upon mine to live in a relatively nonviolent society.
