Robert,

While there is some logic to moving to fewer suppliers, but then there is also the situation that one particular supplier's product may be so superior that moving to consolidate purchases from fewer suppliers may hurt more than it helps. The other issue is regarding embedded base - when an RBOC may have a significant embedded base from one supplier, moving to another supplier just to consolidate buying would hurt than help. Tellabs in my opinion is a beneficiary of both these.
