I believe that the future convergence of cable and Internet will end up with just that-- a convergence.. there will literally be millions of channels from around the world with anyone with a big pipe able to download their programming. The best programs and the most viewers will get the most advertising revenues.. further the programs with the best tech will have access to direct purchases from the sites/shows. Obviously the existing "channels" will dominate at first. Hot shows/properties (like gnet) will be bought out for their viewership by the better known names. Real money will be made by those who can organize these sites/shows into categories that are managable and searchable. There will be movie "sites" financial sites gaming sites cooking sites etc. cable and the net will merge and all compete fairly equally for entertainment value and time. (and ad revenues/ subscription revenues)

Hey, Joe, loved your post! Long on GNET and IATV here! Charter is doing he same thing: with General Instrument set-top boxes, etc. But they seem to want to hit both the cable market they have, plus all the rural areas, where cable and DSL won't go (wireless.) The guys who came by knew all about his vision - tv and computer into one.
