Andreas--- we can HOPE that will happen real soon but it is not just IBM taking mkt share. The numbers have been showing HP and especially DELL are also chipping away mkt share along with IBM. So far we have some great new products competitively priced but CPQ chased customers away and it will be 10 times as hard to get them back if they are happy with their current purchases when replacement time comes. Gerstner, Mikey and the white box maker on the corner are all smiling... everyone but CPQ shareholders...

HP moving into Brazil ---

3Com has already sold 90,000 palmtop computers in Brazil, of which

believes that that segment will triple sales in the future. 3Com sells
3 types of palmtop computers in the country, with prices ranging from
R$350 to R$1,400. Hewlett Packard will introduce in Brazil within the
next months the Jornada420 handheld computer to compete with 3Com's
products. Compaq will start promoting its Aero 2130 palmtop computer in
Brazil as of next month. Microtec of Brazil assembles Everex's palmtop
kits in Ilheus, State of Bahia, which are sold under the Pocket brand
in the country with prices ranging from US$550 to US$750.
