I would like some feedback on reactions to analysts upgrades and downgrades and the possible plays. We see stocks overreacting many times and then settling down to a calm level. Any tips on taking advantage of the movement?
After years of long term investing based on research and analysts opinions my eyes have been opened to the possibility that upgrades and downgrades may serve not only to be helpful to brokerage clients but also to allow the firm to either buy or sell their own inventory at better prices. I've often asked my broker why clients are not notified before these reports hit the street to allow us to take advantage. She says that used to be the case but now with technology the brokers get the information the same time it hits the street. OK.
The more I learn about daytrading the more suspect I become of expert opinions. We have all the tools to do our own TA & FA and make informed decisions about all our investments. Daytrading has opened a whole new world to me. Thank you for all the time and effort put into this thread to help us with our own decison making.
Best wishes,
Rose
