I don't think you can have different identical accounts...

...but you can have a regular individual account, an IRA, your wife can have both of those, you can have a joint account together, corporate accounts if you own a business, etc., etc.

I think you can have multiple accounts but I really doubt that would help your chances anyhow. As I've been with Etrade for almost six years now, I know Etrade for sure no longer allocate shares to accounts which has the same SSN. Wit I do not know the offical rule, bu I have two accounts, never got filled in both except the whopping 1 million share of BNBN:=(Bummer. WITC might be another, but I cancel my IOI. Bummer again until I got 600 after market.) I might be wrong, but I think the time has passed for the multiple account trick. Hope this helps.
