Since buying Ontex stock I have been doing a fair bit of reading and general investigating about how business is done. How many are familiar with Argentina Gold ? Do you recall that Barrick attempted a take over of that co. ? They were unsuccessful but came very close. In the end the shareholders went with the advice of the management and instead of getting $4 ..... they are now at $6.75 !
You may also recall that the management attempted to put in place what they called a "Poison Pill" They were not able to put this in place because they were too late . The only reason the take over was not successful was because shareholders did not sell ...on the advice of their management. The proposal by Ontex.... have we considered the good possibility that this is our "Poison Pill" our insurance policy. What good reason would the directors have for issuing twice the number of shares . This would be shooting ones own foot.
Today on the radio I heard the term "poison pill" being referred to and made me wonder about how it might apply to us.
No one would consider us an easy target with this insurance policy in place.
What do you think of this . I understand that it is not uncommon for the directors to have this power...and for just that reason.
