You're correct, of course, he/she with the most votes wins..again...again...and again, the same person in most cases. I'm all for groups and individuals lobbying and giving to those who support their interests and concerns. But, there is a fine line between supporting a candidate because of ideological agreement combined with actual deeds that benefit the nation versus buying a vote. Those who are in office claim idealism and nonpartisan deeds; those who are not in office see their position as one of being outspent. A dilemma that makes our form of representative government a form of democracy which runs on money and forces incumbents and candidates to spent a predominant amount of time raising money rather that governing, leading, thinking, and doing for the country.
