Gee, X, I believe it is legal to drive barefooted in California. That was a wonderful sense of freedom I remember from my younger years, and a very cool and fun thing to do in southern California, especially. It doesn't often make sense in San Francisco!

I looked it up on the web, and it seems at least from this source that it is just an urban legend that barefoot driving has been made illegal, and that in fact it is legal in all 50 states. You can decide for yourself if you consider this credible information, but it seems to quote an AAA publication:
