ZDNet has a package of features on broadband that deal with many of the issues occasionally addressed here (that is, when the vital business of that list wasn't taking up the message-space):

The whole package is here:

Here's a selection from the article
Who will rule the Broadband Era?

Time Warner, Comcast, Cox Communications and Charter
Communications are the biggest up and coming players. The
smallest of these, Charter, the seventh largest cable provider
held by software billionaire Paul Allen, may also be the most
influential.

"Paul Allen has been in this position of trying to drive this
business digital, and the others are listening," said John Ryan,
chief analyst with RHK Inc., an industry research firm in South
San Francisco, California.

RHK analyst Ryan thinks broadband will require multimedia
content tailored to niche audiences. "Everyone is divided up
into a huge number of communities depending on nationality,
race, gender, interests and location. We feel there will be
a huge proliferation, an explosion of content, for those
groups."

Did you notice Zany Brainy got coverage today.... DLJ and CSFB (I think). I wonder why gnet can't get coverage.... not sure who the underwriter was, but zany is a $10 stock. Or maybe it is considered retail and there is less competition on the IPO front.
