The consensus of opinion among journalists is that MSFT flubbed the trial. That being said, it's likely that journalists are no better at picking trial winners than they are at picking stock market winners. The trial will be decided on arcane legal issues of applicable legislation designed for another era, not by most of the issues discussed in the media. There's no constitutional issue here which makes it less likely that the Supreme Court will overturn any lower court decisions.
Bill Gates has been wrong lots of times in the past, but he has an amazing ability to realize and promptly correct his mistakes and come out the winner in the long run.
