"when our sales goes down so does ebay's revenue!"

As an eBay seller, I've noticed that too. eBay definitely doesn't make as much from re-listing fees as they do if an item actually sells and they get their commission. BTW, just out of curiosity, do you think their new Gallery feature is worth using? In my opinion, it doesn't seem that worthwhile, because more people rely on their search engine to find items.

My guess is seasonal factors at play. However, prices realized and bid #s are of course item category, quality, etc. dependent. My wife has completed 10 Auctions in 2 weeks, exceeded reserves, received payment, and gained 10 more + feedbacks without a hitch. She has experimented with other sites including AMZN, YHOO without as much success recently. EBAY is way oversold and current prices provide excellent entry point, but for a limited time only. Actually, eBay does not suffer nearly as much as you when your sales go down.

That is because eBay receives about two-thirds of its revenues in the form of listing fees.

Yes, it is better for eBay when your items sell, but if it doesn't and you relist, at least eBay gets yet another listing fee.

In the long run, eBay will suffer if less success for the seller means the sellers take their business elsewhere.

But for that to happen, there has to be a better alternative to eBay than that which currently exists.
