Boys tend to play games. And the worst thing in the online gaming community is AOL because 1 Aoler can ruin a multiplayer game due to the enormous lag and 'surprise' disconnects aol produces.

An important distinction. Take a look at the site below.
speakeasy.net

This is the rate sheet for a Seattle-area ISP that partners with Covad to provide residential xDSL connections. In Seattle, they compete with either USWest or GTE which offer DSL to most households in the area at a lower cost and, in a few neighborhoods, with TCI@home which is cheaper still. How do they get away with the higher prices? They focus on gamers as their initial market:
seattlegamingnetwork.com whose motto is "If bandwidth is more important than rent, it's for you."

It's a fascinating marketing gambit. I haven't seen news about whether it's working, but it at least shows another level of broadband marketing -- a focus not just on speed, but also on premium quality of service. The company has replaced an earlier page with a brief blurb on speakeasy.net which gives this marketing rap:

Speakeasy's xDSL service is the premier xDSL offering in the Puget Sound Region. Speakeasy is partnered with the nation's premiere DSL provider, Covad. This network is separate from USWest and GTE yet we serve areas from Everett to Tacoma and from Issaquah to Seattle (service to the Islands is coming soon!). All services levels are guaranteed and include unlimited bandwidth and connection time and all the IP addresses you need. We carefully monitor our network to ensure the highest level of performance and reliability. We feature an independent ATM ring at speeds up to 155MB to ensure our xDSL network outperforms those used by most other xDSL providers.
