Could not have been trades at those prices; probably a service/network error.

Patrick,

Probably the easiest way is to download one of those income tax programs. I use TaxCut by Kiplinger. I think that it's only about $20. Also, I get my trade confirmations by email from Schwab so all I have to do is cut and paste the data from the email to the tax program. By the end of the year I have everything handy. Of course, if I don't sell during that year I have to transfer the buys to the next years tax return, but that's no big problem. The secret is to keep things up to date as they happen and not be hassled by lost paper confirmations. Another advantage is that the tax program will automatically figure out the long term/short term stuff for you. On top of all that you can submit your return through the internet and get a refund in about two weeks instead of six. See: taxcut.com if you are interested. Caveat: There may be better tax programs out there, I haven't really looked.

Hope this helps ...

Craig

Try the Turbotax program by Intuit. It dovetails with Intuit's Quicken where you can place the year's transactions and then transfer them to TT.
