I just saw this from the yahoo board. LOAX is still a great short candidate. I'd love to see it run back to the high teens or low 20s to take another crack at it though.

You should hope for the cable modem monsters to get into your area. I have @Home, speed to spare for a mere $29.95/mo with a $15/mo modem rental charge which I hope to jettison as soon as the newly adopted standards go into effect. My understanding is that this will allow multiple manufacturers to build cable modems and drive prices down. Currently the Motorola version is big bucks (>$400). Even if free, I'd never go back to 56K!
