Disney considers bid for General Magic

By Ned Flanders

Anaheim, June 28 (Reaters) - Media giant Disney considers bid for General Magic Inc.

Disney, which owns and operates theme parks here in the US and abroad, offers a variety of fun and amusement for children of all ages. In a press release today Disney had said that it is considering expanding its experiences by allowing guests to interact with a new voice recognition system developed by General Magic.

Marge Simpson spokeswoman for Disney said "Currently the focus of most theme parks has been rides and shows with little to no interaction with the audience. With General Magic's MagicTalk we can now animate Abraham Lincoln to talk back to the guests. In our It's a Small World After All ride users will be able to sing along with the animatronics and they wish can sing any song they want by requesting their own song using vocal commands in a kind of 'karokee with animatronics'. In the Pirates of the Carribean ride Captain Hook will be able to ask where the guests are from and if they have any money on them."

General Magic officials were not immediately available for comment.

MorganStanley analyst Donald McDuckus squacked a deal ''could make sense for Disney.''

He said other parts of Disney (NYSE:DIS - news) could benefit from a combination with General Magic (Nasdaq:GMGC - news) including their Cruiseship lines.
