Firstly, our country was founded with slavery en force- hard to argue that wishing to return to that makes one a traitor. It might make one wrong-headed but hardly a traitor- of course you are free to define traitor any way you want but its general meaning is one who commits treason which are acts aimed to overthrow a state. If one proceeds by Constitutional amendment to achieve one's goals one is hardly overthrowing the state.

Secondly, our founding fathers clearly contemplated the use of force by "patriots" who might want to use all those guns guaranteed them by the Constitution to water the tree of liberty with blood. I don't personally want to see such a watering because one never knows who the waterer will be- but that is ONE of the principles on which this country was built. Your analysis is emotional and logically flawed imo. Even though I think in terms of results we probably agree- both in what we want, and in what we want to prevent.

When someone destroys a Federal building in Oklahoma city he is a traitor, regardless
of how strongly held the delusion that he loves his country may be

Not according to X's definition. If he does it loving his country and trying to make it better and truly believes that a few deaths are necessary to accomplish that ["the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots." T. Jefferson] then he may indeed fit the definition of a patriot, both X's and the dictionary's.

Is one also a traitor if one takes an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and then systematically works to undermine it when they are in office? Throw the rascals out!!
