The Russian space station is falling apart, and it is in real danger of just falling out of orbit. Those cats have to resupply their reaction control with fuel just to undo the slow steady drag of the atmosphere's edge. That's what did Skylab.
The latest rumor I'd heard is that there's a collection plate being passed around Russia to try to sponge up some private cash to sustain operations.

I hope that at the very least they scratch together enough cash to boost the abandoned Mir to a high orbit. As a museum alone it is priceless.
