I drive barefoot, too, and when I wear dress shoes, I slip them off and drive in my stocking feet. Which, by the way, prevents the heel leather from being worn away. I have a stick shift, and my bare feet never get stuck when I shift, but sometimes shoes do. So I think driving barefoot is safer, as well as more fun.

Personally, I like to drive with my pants down and have my girlfriend do unspeakable things to me whilst traveling at 135 mph. I keep my shoes on, though. Better traction on the pedals.
