Paul, You are already flustered,...hay fever or you can see the dust coming up behind you getting ready to pass and leave you in it(as an Intel proxy, of course)
In truth a faster chip will give AMD a lift and extra margin and sales will accrue. Profits?, Intel has money to burn and may well cut the P-III-550/600/?? down to $100 to deny AMD profits in the GPC that will ensue. Intel definitely has more of that commodity that gets pissed away(money) in such contests and has shown again and again that they will not allow intel to capitalise on any technical lead no matter what the cost.....no matter what the cost!!
