Would you call that an oversimplification?

That's because I don't want to get into too much of technical detail in this forum. Sufficient to say that the much-touted "open cable access" may be economically unfeasible.

Btw, the AOL management seems to understand that their business model rests on their ability to acquire and retain dial-up access customers, which is why they are investing in GMH (DirecPC) and not cable and phone co's. With DirecPC, one still needs to dial an AOL number.
