Well, obviously you don't know much about psychology and what it is relevant to "NET PERCEPTIONS". Web site software development, especially on collaborative filtering, is not just pure programming. It involved human information processing, which focus on how a human being interpret the meaning of a information signal (words, sentences, pictures, or combination of above...etc). *I hope you know human information processing is one of the hot topics in experimental psychology.

The role NET PERCEPTIONS play is to filter something meaningful out of a noisy environment. Assuming you agree that most of information we received are simply noise, particularly in a wide wild world such as Internet. As we can see the information on WWW will grow faster than our imagination. That is where NET PERCEPTIONS fit in. It helps saving people's time and maximum efficacy of using Internet.

I know this is not easy to understand for general public. However, I believe Snyder is someone who has vision. He sees the opportunity and go for it. He's definitely not in the same category as your scholar neighbor who is trying to figure out why people collect underwear. No offense, it may be an interesting topic in academia but it has nothing to do with NETP.

Regards,
Good luck
