Well, the Zogby Poll shows an unfavorable scenario for Hillary Wrong Time, Wrong State By John Zogby June 28, 1999 Unfavorable impression of Hillary rises sharply in New York; Gap between her and Giuliani widens, Zogby poll shows First lady Hillary Clinton's potential bid as New York Senator is losing ground against New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a Zogby New York poll shows. The survey, taken June 26-28 of 705 likely New York State voters, shows Rudy's lead widening to 50.4% to Hillary's 40.2%, a significant increase over a Zogby survey taken in May which had Rudy's lead as 49.3% to 43.7%. The survey has a margin of sampling error of +/- 3.8%. The survey also shows Hillary's combined very favorable and somewhat favorable rating declining to 47% from 62% while her combined unfavorable rating increased to 44.7% from 31.4%. Giuliani's very favorable or somewhat favorable rating of 54% is a decrease from the combined 57.4% in May. His unfavorable rating increased slightly to 29% from 27.4%. Pollster John Zogby: "This has all the elements of a classic New York race," Zogby said. "Rudy's unfavorable rating is very high in New York City (48% favorable; 49% unfavorable), while Hillary's favorability ratings are poor Upstate (42% favorable; 49% unfavorable). "Hillary's favorable/unfavorable numbers are very good in New York City (61% to 31%) while Rudy's favorable/unfavorable numbers are respectable in Upstate (50% to 19%). Once again the Suburbs will be the battleground where Rudy leads 2-1." Among regions, Giuliani leads the First lady among Upstate voters 50.5% to 36.7% and among Suburban voters 63% to 31.1%, while Hillary leads in New York City 54.6% to 37.5%.
