That's true, but I wonder if the shorts aren't a little more nimble. To have tried to short this market over the last few years would require that to survive. End result is the same, it contributes to a blowoff on the upside. The question is sustainablity.

I believe if it reverses, longs will be in denial and endure a longer period of time and larger point drop than the bears. When most of us would have thought the selling was done, and it was time to buy, is when the serious selloff could just be beginning. I remember last August being short AMZN in a new position, after getting my butt handed to me in June/July. I rode it overnight, and to my surprise it opened down the next day. After dropping a few more points, it appeared to rally and I covered. Then it fell 20 points! The next day another 15.
