I absolutely agree, and possibly one of the values we are losing in this great country is the simple value of "dialogue". Dialogue comes from the Greek word Dia-logos, "flow of meaning". I believe there is a deep hunger to rediscover our capacity to talk with one another. The popularity of sites such as SI is a reaching for this need.

Understanding and practicing dialogue predates even the Greeks. How did our founding fathers come to be able to jointly state "we hold these truths to be self evident"? And to believe it so deeply that they "pledged to each other "our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred Honor"? The United States was the first country in the modern era founded on a vision. Is it possible that in some very real sense this vision was born out of a capacity for dialogue?
