Don:

Silver batteries to deliver large quantities of energy will have limited application due to the very fact that widespread usage would drive silver price sky high.

I suspect WB is simply playing a smart investment figuring that silver will rise, but not because of a single application.

I have argued, however, that such applications as silver batteries for ordinary consumer use, the battery in your watch being a good example, are not price-elastic in the short-to-intermediate term. This means that once something like 25-50 million ounces of use, e.g. jewelry, which is price-elastic is squeezed our, the price of silver can double or triple without much further short-term loss of market.
