United States Postal Service Implements XATA Onboard Information System; USPS Joins Growing List of XATA Onboard Customers
PR Newswire - June 28, 1999 08:46

MINNEAPOLIS, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- XATA Corporation (Nasdaq: XATA), a provider of onboard information systems to the fleet trucking industry, announced today that a contract was signed with the United States Postal Service (USPS) on June 11, 1999 to provide onboard computer systems, software and support for its fleet of heavy duty vehicles.

As the operator of the world's largest mail system, the United States Postal Service utilizes over 10,000 trucks out of facilities in every major city throughout the United States just to distribute mail to regional and local offices before final delivery is made to homes and businesses across America.

Jeff Super, Manager of Transportation and Networks for the USPS Northland Performance Cluster, says the computers make route analysis much easier. "Drivers had been filling out log sheets that had to be pieced together to do analysis," he explains. "These computers update the route information continually. You can pull hundreds of reports with little effort."

"The XATA system is being increasingly adopted by leaders across all segments of the fleet trucking industry," said Joel Jorgenson, XATA Corporation director of sales. "The USPS decision only serves to validate that our vision of providing America's largest and most recognized fleets with the premier logistics management solution on the market is being achieved."

XATA Corporation is the leading provider of onboard technology to the transportation industry. XATA ONBOARD is the most powerful, advanced, yet user-friendly onboard computer system on the market. XATA ONBOARD seamlessly combines onboard computing, real-time communications, global positioning and fleet management software to provide an enterprise-wide logistics management solution for America's largest fleets.
