APPLIX shares rose Monday as investors appreciate Applix's position in developing and supplying application products for the Linux operating system. Although Applix didn't report any news Monday, First Albany Corp. analyst Damian Rinaldi thinks Applix's jaunt into the Linux market is driving the stock price up. Linux is a "very hot sector of the software market." Applix CFO Edward Terino said consumers are using the Linux operating system for their server functions, including network management and e-mail.
