Or maybe men who don't want their child aborted shouldn't have sex with
women with whom they are not married, or with whom they haven't agreed in advance
whether a potential child will or won't be aborted?

Why not the same rule for women? Then we would never need a single abortion except to save the life of the mother.

It seems clear to me that you consider the physical effort in sperminating an ova to
be the physiological equivalent of bearing a child for nine months and then going
through childbirth, and breast-feeding, and all that. I am sure your wife would agree.

Not at all. How do you get this out of what I said?

You are a divorce attorney - do you think paying child support is the functional
equivalent of being a full-time father?

No. But I have seen many lives seriously damaged by unwanted pregnancies. A female college student who wants to graduate on time and start a career and inadvertently gets pregnant has the choice of aborting and saving her chance to realize her life dreams. A male college student who wants to graduate on time and start a career and inadvertently gets a woman pregnant has no such choice -- she can effectively (unless he or his parents are very wealthy) force him to leave College and get the best job he can (in Washington, as in most states, a post-high-school student is considered voluntarily unemployed and is required to pay full child support as though fully employed) and may destroy his chance of getting the kind of job and life he wanted. I have seen it happen too many times.

All I want is for both parents to have the same opportunity at the life they want.

The best solution right now is to have NO human carry a child, but to use cows to carry the human fetus during gestation. This may also eliminate some people's intolerance to lactose.

In the future it will be best to follow Aldous Huxley's model and have babies manufactured to predetermined specifications. That may also solve CGB's dilemma on how to privatize a child.
