I think that was a horribly insensitive doctor, to tell you that was a foot.It reminds me of some of the HORRENDOUS illegal abortion stories i've heard. Cruel things being said.(Aside from the masked 'doctor,' and no anesthesia, and dubious hygiene, and whispered threats to leave if the woman screamed from the pain.) (These were the lucky women; mostly the middle class ones; they got real abortions, at least, instead of jabbing knitting needles up themselves in their desperation.)(The richer ones flew to other countries.)

I had a miscarriage earlier than your wife's. I picked it up out of the toilet and looked at it. It looked like gristle in a big blood clot. I was depressed for a long time, though it was perfectly clear to me that what was in my hand was not a baby. I was just so disappointed, and I guess there were chemicals circulating; and i had wanted the baby so much.
