Mike, it appears the consumer push is on. Entering the handheld market would not be hard. They could easily strike an OEM arrangement with the likes of 3COM for a customized Dell solution.
This is typically how they enter new markets. Once established, they could develop some or all of it themselves... similar to the Dimension way.

I still have concerns about this market due to it's size in terms of revenue. $5B by 2002 seems like small potatoes. But, it could become necessary to have a presence here for competitive reasons. It's not out of line to envision competitors bundling not only ISP service with PC purchases, but a handheld companion as well.

So, with the new consumer focus, anything goes. I have had a few friendly debates with Gregory Mullineaux on the issue. I am beginning to suspect he may be right sooner than I would have previously expected... instead of 2-3 years out, maybe within
9-12 months.
