Ron,
You state ad-nauseam the health of a currency and there-by it's underlying economy is in an overall state of health when debt is monetized and gold is not. Your friend President Clinton has now pulled the rabbit from the hat and has projected a time with-out a US national debt.

Does this not indicate, as both prior times in history, a much lower dollar in the near future?

If the Federal Reserve can not support the value of the US dollar through US debt, what will they use?

The Crash

On Tuesday 6/29, FRONTLINE explores the global crisis that began as a
real estate bust in Thailand and roared through the world's economy-from
Bangkok to Jakarta to Moscow to Wall Street. On August 31, 1998, the Dow
Jones industrial average plunged 512 points, wiping out stock market
gains for the entire year. In the United States, small investors watched
more than half a trillion dollars of their savings disappear. Fear
spread that the global economy was falling apart. The program gathers
some of the world's leading financial analysts to unravel the reasons
for the crash of 1998 and to predict whether-and when-it will happen
again.
