The saddest thing for me about all this was when my brother's girlfriend had an abortion. My brother just turned 40, this was a few years ago, maybe 5? his girlfriend is my age, and they were living together and thinking about getting married, and she got pregnant. So she was about 40 then. And they were trying to decide what to do. Beautiful woman. I've known her for 25 years. Very intelligent. She has two restaurants in New Yorks. A graduate of Cordon Bleu. One of the good friends of my friend David, who killed himself. She's family. And I really love my brother. He's the baby, he's had a tough row to hoe, my parents are not good parents. He's had his pick of beautiful women, and they see something in him. He's the one who was going to go to Kosovo to work with the refugees, but stayed here to help when my father's wife was dying. And they decided that she should have an abortion. And she did. And it was my niece or nephew, and it makes me very sad. Anyway, she married someone else, and she has a couple of kids now, so the story has a happy ending for her.
