Walter,
It sounds as if the EPAC audio file, which may consist of a single song or track, is self-extracting (i.e. has the decompression algorithm embedded in the file); as opposed to .mod or .mp3 files, which require a software "player" to both decompress them and then convert them to a format that the sound card can recognize. Just a guess, although it might be a way to increase file security.
