PC,

>>What makes anyone think that a .25 or .50 or even a .75 increase is going to change spending habits of consumers abruptly? <<

I don't really believe in formulas when it comes to the economy. It's all about human action that is variable. So I'm sort of with you. On the other hand I believe in common sense and self-interest. So I suspect that a lot of business investment, home purchases, etc... that makes sense and are viable won't be it rates rise .75. I think .25 is almost a non event unless the bubble is even bigger than I think and the position of the borrowers is even worse than I think. No matter we're not getting any more than .25 at a time.
