AMD K7/PIII Benchmarks. It's fast.

Look's like K7's a screamer. Now we need to see Intel's version of these B/M's.
Results normalized to the PIII

Floating Point 3D Winbench Integer

K7 600mHz 153% 148% 118%
K7 550mHz 146% 140% 109%
PIII 550mHz 100% 100% 100%

Can they make enough?

Chris,

I'm not sure it's possible to get a really accurate line on what the inflation rate is. From what I can tell there are a lot of different views on the subject. The data collection is an enormous task and easily manipulated with all sorts of quality, substitution, mandated cost issues, etc...

My problem with the whole thing is twofold.

One, we are making fiscal and monetary policy based on a bulls**t number that no one has a grip on.

Two, every time they change the formula it has the effect of lowering the CPI. This is something that clearly benefits the government in terms of expenditures, bracket creep tax increases, and borrowing costs.
