09:35 ET CMGI Inc (CMGI) 97 11/16 halted: --Update-- Company to acquire majority stake in AltaVista for $2.3 bln; CPQ will receive 19 mln CMGI common shares and preferred shares equal to 1.8 mln common; CMGI will also issue $220 mln 3-yr note. CPQ will hold 16.4% stake in CMGI.

Any prices before CMGI halted ? In general, do you think the street will like the news for CMGI ?

Obviously CPQ shareholders must love it because CPQ has the poorest execution and management in the industry, IMO. This should definitely help their beaten down stock.
