Rande and all, been lurking since the call of calls (Rande buys the Cleveland Indians). Appreciate the the tone and discipline of the thread. Like the macro outlooks from some posters, M3, liquidity, etc. Here's an article on settops. smartmoney.com My amateur market outlook. Other seasonal factors aside, I feel there are 2 sources of uncertainty that have been weighing on the market. One is the shooting war in the Balkans. A degree of resolution has been reached(sort of), depending if you get your news from Peter Jennings or a less frivolous source. More importantly for this thread and still unresolved is the Microsoft lawsuit. Softie, like Kevin Bacon is only a few degrees of separation from any given Inet, media, software or tech stock. Softie is either competitor, ally, investor or potential suitor for currency of this thread. Hamstrung by a fear of the feds, softie's deals go undone, softies competitors feel less urgency to compete head to head with the Big Boy, at the same time the cold hand of the Feds cooling deal-making ardor industry wide. This case needs a settlement, not a jury trial next year. IMVHO.
