I am more convinced than ever that a separate Abortion Thread would be a good idea.

Neocon, you say:

I am not interested enough in endless back and forth on the topic.

But that is what we've got here -- an endless back and forth -- which is what almost always happens when this subject is brought up. Such discussions never seem to lead anywhere, or even to be designed to lead anywhere.

You have demonstrated that, it seems inadvertently. You say, on the one hand, that you started this discussion "with a quite limited purpose in mind." That purpose, I presume, was to prove your general proposition that "many of the positions of social conservatives are justifiable without reference to faith." So you picked abortion to ilustrate your point, and started the discussion with "an example from something I have posted elsewhere" -- i.e., by reposting something you had already posted to another thread.

So, I still say -- consolidate it all on a single thread. And I am surprised that none of the people for whom this is an "issue" has thought of launching one devoted to it.

You say abortion is not your issue. Well, considering that you have already made at least 35 posts on the abortion issue since you started this discussion less than 24 hours ago, I am forced to wonder what volume of posts you devote to issues that are "yours." <gg>
