not necessarily... usually when MMs are short or out of shares they widen the spread... that typically reduces buying and encourages selling..

MMs know that most of these pennies are frought with daytraders and the wide spread usually frustrates them and either keeps them away or if they are in, causes them to sell on move on ..

sometimes MMs will also do this to simply gather a bunch of cheap shares for themselves.. before letting it run..

as for your thinking that they could just keep raising the price to discourage buying..

where have you been?? lol ; these penny stock investors dont like buying a stock when it's at 1.12 x 1.31 ; they'd rather buy the stock at 1.75 x 1.81 when it's moving up.. not many like to get in on these stock when they are consolidating.. go figure..

me, I'm a daytrader for the most part.. but I also know when to accumulate and hold... like with SYCD at .45 ; and will hold on for much better than where it is now.. same here with OGPS in the low $1 to 1.30 range..

did the same with AIGI at .07 and EDIG at .75
