Why won't most people not sit down and put pencil to paper and ANALYZE ABX? And ANALYZE the gold market and industry trends? And ANALYZE the different player and their indiviual motive? Doesn't anyone care or have an interest in gathering all the facts, and after careful ANALYSIS, than make a determination on their own?

I do... That why I' was bearish on GOLD for the last year. But you know just 2 weeks ago, I change temp bullish. Unfortunately, many here, there and elsewhere don't understand how to analyze. That's why I've become many a reader, scanner, and next button pusher. So I understand where you are coming from.

I've been laughing at GPM threads explanation of ABX lately. seem that few to few understand what short means.

PS: Still long PDG.

There is a lot of good information being traded. Agree with you, there is a lot of spamming going on, misinformation and deliberate denigration of ABX. The facts are the facts. There appear to be a lot of posters who do not get the facts, that is why I took the time to post ALL of the ABX web site information on their Premium Hedging Pgm. Appears that many didn't bother to read that information. You many be right, there could be too much time wasted by the troublemaker posters, deliberate on their part or just ignorant. Would seem appropriate and business like for everyone to fact find and forget the emotional postings.

The light bulb just went on!!!! The negative ones should buy 100 shares of ABX and then do their DD and see how good it is!! But alas, they might be too lazy to get going.

Best regards, we do enjoy your posts Exsrch

<<I am somewhat confused by the amount of misunderstanding that surrounds ABX. >>

I can assure you thet there are much more investors and institutions that understand that ABX is the best well-managed gold "blue chip" than there are detractors who are blaming lower gold prices on Barrick well designed and common sense hedging program.

<< It seems speculators and people who focus on gold miss the point altogether. Probably because they invest in lower grade (volitile) investments where they wait to hit the jackpot? >>

I think many investors are in for the quick money. They don't understand the sector and don't know where are the real gems which can be found in all tiers within the industry. ABX is certainly part of the most conservative 1st tier. But there are the mid-tier and juniors categories where excellent companies can be found which have far greater potential than Barrick while still being not too risky.

When you find a junior with $30 millions in cash, several properties with either potential for large reserve or even some already developed reserves, selling for a market cap of $40-$50M, you know this is a bargain.

You are right on the volatility of the sector. The last tiers are much more volatile than the 1st tier. Still, there are not all Casino-type investments. Many are excellent companies and this are the ones that will go 10:1 in the next cycle. The $1-$3 stocks of today will agin move to $10-$30 in the next cycle.
