downloaded netzero.exe yesterday, and I tried a few times to register an account, and was bounced back with "authentication error".

Did a little search at cnet.com on NetZero, and these folks were planning for an IPO by the end of 99, was projecting 7M users by Q2 00 and 8M in REVENUE. I mean, give me a break, it cost at least 10 bucks per member per month just for the network and modem racks. At 7M users they will be losing 200M a quarter, and where is their rate cards? I'd be very interested to see ad rate goes up and network cost goes down so much so this business model would work.

Tritium tried this and is gone, NetZero could last longer with more funding from today's crazy VCs, and who knows, if KPCB, Mayfield, Attractor and the likes all take their turn and try these kind of dumb ideas it could give us some headache.
