Scott it works better, the only question is pricing and the market size.

An asthmatic now using xopenex

I am a retired chemical engineer fighting asthma for 45 years. I have been using xopenex since may 20th. My
peak outlet flow is holding above 320 L/min 6 hours after taking xopenex. My maximum flow is 390 L/min
holding at 350 L/min for several hours.
Previously I was taking albuterol and atrovent. After 5 hours my flow rate often got down to 250 L/min.
A stiking diference is that I am not taking an airway dilator in early morning. I am waking up at 7AM still
breathing comfortably.
I can not make a direct comparison between xopenex and albuterol because they are supplied diferently.
I need xopenex suppied in a canister for convenient use in the same type of package as albuterol is supplied.

I take xopenex about every 6 hours which is near end of its dilation effect. However I am lasting through
the night which is unusual for me.
I am retired from Chevron and am on medicare and Chevrons United Health care. I copay 8$ per 24
3cc ampules. I often take one half of the .63 Mg at a time. That gets me to 390 L/min about my maximun
with albuterol only. Addition of atrovent will increase flow rate some.
With xopenex I am having no low flow rates following depletion of the drug activity.
I believe albuterol has a residual deliterious effect at the end of its effectiveness. Because of this effect I
have been using it sparingly, along with atrovent sparingly.
I am concerned about the high dose of xopenex.
I would like to have xopenex available in the canister application in 50 mcg puffs similar to albuterol in 90
mcg puffs.
I could then make replicatable comparisons.

I have been taking xopenex since May 20. My peak flow rates are increased from 320L/min to 400
L/min which is my max with only one half the 0.63 Mg dose. When I was using the metered doses of
albuterol my flow dropped below 300L/min following depletion of its effectiveness. I could make a
direct comparison if I had xopenex available in the MDI at a level comparable to the 90 mcg/puff
application.
I believe that albuterol contains ingredients that decrease my peak flow rates following depletion of its
expansionary effect.
