I think the matching of buyers and sellers in car purchases is important. Most cars I've bought have gone down in value over the years, probably due to dealers selling "short," that is, selling cars without buyers, in their zeal to increase sales. This can only have the effect of driving prices down. Now, we don't need any more government than we already have, but I for one think it would be good if the SEC was given jurisdiction over car dealers.
