You don't want to pay for those units that you plan on trimming. If Dell were to buy Cpq, they would want to negotiate a price exclusive of the units to be cut.

PS: As far as the stock is concerned. When the Street loses interest in a company, nothing much happens with the stock. That's exactly what we are seeing at this time. If the 50% growth returns, we'll see the stock jump. If the growth doesn't return, and stays at 30 to 40%, the stock won't do much as the pe is adjusted downward.

so paul, let me say it in a friendly tone, before the thread tars and feathers you...

dell the stock is not the victim of selling, but more a lack of buying interest...for the moment nobody wants to take a new position...quarterly window dressing by the institutions about over, so no volume increase in dell is perhaps a sign for another quarter of flat price...i hope not, but must be a realist...gtw falling victim also to the "pc perception"...meanwhile big blue chugs along...not sure if an isp/pc connection for dell or gtw has the ability to move the underlying...
