Wocky can't afford the ORB as Crocker Partners haven't paid him this mo... he didn't lower IOM's price enough for them to buy back their short. What a loser. SR

" We've been hearing about you getting an ORB for 6 months already. What's the matter cash flow problems ??"

Yeah, you're right! Most likely it's cash flow problem. It's also called throwing good money after bad money.

Sometimes it is difficult to comprehend and interpret someone else's writing. Often a clear message get muddled and misunderstood. That fellow needs fast performance and couldn't wait for the external SCSI. The external SCSI model just become available recently. The Orb USB is priced higher than the SCSI. Wonder why? After reading Orb USB's features and capability, he is getting the USB instead of the external SCSI. That's when cash flow problem comes in. Why spend $250 for USB instead of $200 for SCSI?

The problem is knowing the value of a product and value of money. For sure this fellow doesn't like to throw away his money, and definitely not interested in throwing good money after bad.

Here is a profound cash flow problem: Buy Jaz2 or Orb, and also need a total of 10 disks.

Jaz2 drive $ 350
Jaz2 disks 10 x 75 = $ 750
Total for Jaz2 system = $350+$750 = $ 1,100

Orb USB (with 1 disk) = $ 250
Orb disks 9 x 30 = $ 270 (Remember "need 10 disks total and 1 came with the drive"). Total for Orb USB system = $ 520

See the difference?

Initial cost with 1 disk only is $425 for Jaz2 (that's $350 for drive + $75 for disk = $425), whereas it is $250 for Orb USB. Note: Only $200 for other Orb's. By getting the Orb USB there is an immediate savings of $175.

Big deal!, that's peanuts!, right? Maybe to some people. To many people, it is 175 bucks of savings. Besides, what's that have anything to do with throwing good money after bad money?

Here is how that happens:

O.K., let's look further into added savings when the other 9 disks are purchased.

Cost for 9 Jaz 2 G disks = 9 x 75 = $ 675.

Cost for 9 Orb 2.2 G disks = 9 x 30 = $ 270.

The savings by getting Orb system is $405.

Conclusion: By buying Jaz2 drive and 10 disks, one is throwing away $405 of good money after throwing $175 of bad money.

>> We've been hearing about you getting an ORB for 6 months already. <<

The ORB SCSI version has not been available. I need SCSI for my older Mac.

But today, I learned that the USB ORB drive has been brilliantly engineered to function as both a SCSI and a USB drive. I can use this single Orb drive with my old Mac (SCSI) as well as my iMac (that of course only has USB ports).

I applaud Castlewood for this engineering feat. Now if only other manufacturers could do the same...
