Yes, slavery was the original form of "cheap labor", and it has been practiced throughout the history of mankind. The Roman Empire would not have endured without the help of this cheap labor. The Greeks and Egyptions also practiced slavery. In most cases, cannibalism was not developed as a need for food, but a sense of assuming strengths of the departed one. In the case of Donner pass, it was the stark reality of survival.

To some freedom is given, but others have to fight harder for it. Guess who appreciates it the most. As far as human life not being sacred, I disagree. Ask yourself, what principles was this country founded upon?

>>Darrell, you don't understand that in the distant past, and even in some remote tribes today, cannibalism was practiced. Not only that, slavery was the norm in the Ancient Mediterranean region, and continued to be practiced on the fringes of Europe, and in the Islamic world, up until the modern era. Even today, in the Sudan and Madagascar, there is slavery. Further, there were slaves in the United States, so who are we to judge? And the Donner party practiced cannibalism, kind of...Therefore, there is nothing particularly sacred about either freedom, or human life itself...

But in the end all things happen for the glory of G-d, not for the glory of anyone, but G-d. This is what control freaks have such a difficult time accepting... they don't trust the judgement and the timing of the Lord.
